Well, after 3 hours of play, during which I found a really good group in my first 10 minutes, hit level 13 and got enough XP to keep from deleveling after death, got to Selbina for the first time, and got my first subjob quest item, I think the decision is pretty clear.

I'm sticking with FFXI. When it works, it really, really works.

Bad ass dude! Good to hear things went well for you last night! It seems I really am the only person who always had bad luck trying to find good parties in the Dunes, heh

I'm guessing you got the Crab Apron first? That's what most people get first, since Snippers are the easiest of the three to fight. Let us know when you have both the Crab Apron and the Damselfly Worm, and we (or at least Dennis, he'd be the main one you'd need) will help you get your Magicked Skull. The Ghoul that drops it is a rare spawn between 2200-400, and it's a rare drop from it. I think Dennis has helped just about everyone on the LS get theirs. Another benefit of having a high level thief in our group.

Heh, when you have to get the magicked skull you might consider quitting again.

The good news is that one you hit level 30 and get your advanced job, it's the light at the end of the tunnel. Advanced jobs are MUCH easier and more effective than the basic jobs (except possibly for BLMs and WHMs).

Actually, in our first 3 fights last night, we had an apron and a skull dropped. Didn't put in a lot for it, as there were other people who needed it and were closer to 18, but we didn't seem to have any problems with drops.

And when I hit 18, evildennis's lvl 30-something thief's going to help me out, so it's all good. ^_^

So you know - it is always easier to go to the Gusgen Mines to get the Magicked Skull, there are Ghoul pops there all the time so there is no waiting for spawns. Just get a decently high lvl person to help out. That's where I got mine and let me just say it was so much easier than camping against the other parties.

Oh, and Grats! The Dunes are a super place to lvl 13-20!
