I have an idea for a d20 Modern game, if anyone's interested.

The Alternate You-niverse (pardon the pun)
1) Everyone builds a 3rd-level d20 Modern character based upon themselves, using only the 6 base classes (Strong/Fast/Tough/Smart/Determined/Charismatic Heroes). Anyone who want to get in on a game, even if they can't play until later in the campaign, can make a character. Feel free to idealize yourself if you'd like.

2) The characters are filed away to be used as a permanent set of starting stats for your avatar in the game.

3) The GM (in this case, me) then runs, instead of a entire campaign based in one setting, a series of one- or two-shots in which the players play themselves -- or if not themselves, alternate enhanced versions of themselves. Some game (such as a "Survive the Zombies in the Mall" game) might have the players playing themselves as their stock level 3 characters. Other games (such as games set in a post-apocalyptic or far future setting) will allow the characters to add 2-4 levels of other Hero/Advanced classes to represent an alternate universe/future version of themselves with more training and experience. To speed up this process, the GM will have preset packages ready that can just be tacked onto the base characters; players are not forced to use these packages, but may if they choose.

4) No experience will be handed out, as the character levels can fluctuate from session to session. Instead, players will be given extra Action Points to spend, as per the d20 Modern ruleset.

The idea is based on the old Amazing Stories engine, which did the same thing -- players played alternate versions of themselves. It's an interesting concept, and I'd like to try it out. Anyone curious to give it a go?

I'll be sending my clone that way to play.

That sounds like fun, though I'll need a D20 Modern book to look through for this. :) When do you think you'd be likely to run a session or three of this? Seeing as how my days off are going to flipflop in the next week or two >

Probably run it in about 3 weeks (allows me time to familiarize myself with the system intimately, as well as get a couple of basic campaigns ready). However, anyone who wants to play, even if they can't play in the first campaigns, can make a character.

Also, you can read the d20 Modern System Resource Document (aka the free, no-frills version of the book) here (http://www.12tomidnight.com/d20modernsrd/Home.php)

Hey, I've got the core book and I really never use it! I'm game. :D

I would be interested if I could make it. (Yes, I know there will be multiple one shots over time...heh.)

Will look into that over the week.

Then play yourself as you would like to be. You're allowed to idealize yourself.

You know, while I'm not the biggest of roleplayers, this sounds like something that could be fun to jump in on occasionally. I'll have to hook up with you sometime and write something up, just in case. ^_^

Since I don't have the book I followed the link and was able to get everything completed for the 'me' except for how you wanted us to pick/use the stats (Str,Dex,Con,Int,Wis,Chr).

Two more levels (so I could get one more talent) and I think I could pull a very good me off. *grin*

Well, done with this for now, let me know so I can finish the template.

Back to working on wrestlers.
