Less than 10 hours before I get my Matrix-y goodness.
I have a feeling I'm going to need it, based on my day...
1) Customer calls us at 8 AM (our hours are 9 to 5) and bitches us out for not having anyone available to fix their problem. As soon as I get a message to call the customer, I look into the problem.
Customer: "We can't import our order file!"
Me: "Okay, what exactly is happening?"
Customer: "When I go out on our network to get the file from our mainframe, the file isn't there!"
Me: "So it's not an error with our software, but an error within your network?"
Customer: "Well, yes! What can you do?"
Me: "I can't do anything; that's up to your network admins to fix your mainframe."
Customer: "Oh."
2) Another customer sends me an email telling me that 4 of their customers are having problems registering on their e-commerce site. They keep getting a message stating that "State/Region is a required field", but they don't know what to put in the Region box, which is clearly labeled to be required only for customers outside the US.
Customer: "They don't know what to put in the Region box!"
Me: "Well, if they're customers from the US. which is the default, they don't have to put anything there. They just have to select a state."
Customer: "But they don't know to put 'United State' in the Region box!"
Me: "They don't have to; there's a country dropdown right below the Region box which defaults to 'United States'. If they're from the US, they only have to select a state. They don't have to put anything in the Region box. They did select states, right?"
It's just been... a day.
