Ugh. I hate drainage. Something's kicked my sinuses into overdrive and it's filling my nose, mouth, and stomach with drainage, which makes me feel just generally ill. Blargh.

Anyway, had a good weekend despite the weather. Saturday was beautiful - not too cloudy, not too hot, not too cool. It was a great day to drive, and a great day for strolling around the outdoor outlet mall at the Lake of the Ozarks with my baby. And yes, she was right - that place is more developed than I could have imagined. Looking across the lake revealed huge resorts, and of course there's shopping and entertainment everywhere. A very busy area, which is interesting when you consider that the permanent residents only number around 3,000 or so between Osage Beach and Lake Ozark. There's easily 10 times that, if not more, in weekenders and summer residents.

Sunday morning, however, was an experiment in sleep deprivation. First, one of Cindy's two dogs - Cindy being the person at who's house we were staying - got out and started barking at someone on the dock early in the morning, around 4ish (if not earlier). Cindy and Z's mom started looking for the dog, which was no easy task at night, as the dog is totally black. The dog is barking, they're yelling at the dog... and all the noise woke Ein up, and he starts barking. He's laying between us, and we're barely comfortable because the bed is about a size too small for both of us, let alone us and the dog. They finally get the dog quiet and back in the house, Ein settles down... and then the storm hits, and there's rain on the lake and thunder and heavy wind and we surrender. Z was later able to get back to sleep, but I settled down with some FF Origins and just let my brain go on autopilot for a bit.

We ended up leaving around 11:30 AM - several hours earlier than Z would have liked - just because we knew bad storms were on the way (thank you, Weather Channel!) and from about 10:30 AM to 3 PM, we'd have a lull in the weather. It was the perfect window of opportunity to get going and avoid the badness. Worked out nicely too - other than some heavy winds, we didn't hit anything. Got home around 3:15 PM, and from what I understand, that's when the shit just started hitting the fan over in Kansas. Looks like we timed our trip home just right.
