Runcie has a shiny new muffler, he doesn't rattle anymore, and I'm $350 in debt to my parents. Ah well, could be worse. Muffler could have fallen off while I was driving around late at night. I'd have to pull over, wait for a tow truck, find out my cell phone had no charge, and then get frostbite while walking for help.

So being $350 in debt beats that with a stick.

You can drive for a bit with no muffler, or even with your muffler hanging off onto the road. I'm not sure you're supposed to do that for a long distance, or with any kind of speed, but I've done that before.
