I was going to try to come up with my own profound thoughts and observations and reflections on the 9/11 anniversary, but y'know what? I'm just not feeling it. No profundity today. Not even enough to make casual observations and commentary on what they're saying.

Of course, I may just be burned out on it, since we've had weeks of lead-up ads on TV, radio, and the web for the various media rememberances of the event. The media is going a bit overkill, I think, but at the same time, they have to play it safe. You see, if they treat today as just another broadcast day, many people will get offended, writing them nasty letters about how they're heartless bastards for not remembering this solemn and tragic occasion. So the safe bet is to innundate us. I can't blame them for that, nor can I hate them for it. I'm a bit disappointed that it hasn't been done with a bit more moderation, but what can you do? I'm just leaving the TV off today.

And as for this day being an excuse for people to get together and enjoy the company of their fellow human beings, whether at home or at the office, well, duh. That's what this day should be for - a celebration of community, of being together and caring about each other. The best way we can pay homage to the dead is to celebrate life. Their lives, our lives, everyone's lives. Take a little of your time and share it with those around you. Do a little bit of life with them.
