... I'd try to take the Song Survey that <a href-"http://www.livejournal.com/~tesstrosa">my Z</a> took, but it's just taking me way too long. It's hard remembering lyrics, and it's hard to find lyrics that I know that are applicable to how I'm feeling in life. There's a few here and there, but often I listen to music that doesn't fit my mood at all. Very rarely do I identify with a song; usually there's just something quirky or catchy about either the tune or the lyrics that appeals to me. Sometimes, a song serves as pre-catharsis, burning off negativity before I realize that it's there. I mean, seriously, I haven't tried to find "deep meaning" in my music since I was in high school... like listening to Nine Inch Nails when I was depressed. The songs I picked tended to be cathartic, though, so despite any deep meaning (or lack thereof), they still helped me get through the tough spots.
