I feel bad for not being more active with the Casa crew over the last week or so. I'm sure they think I'm being standoffish and aloof, and I really don't mean to be. It's just that, well, they're a bunch of hard-core drinkers and revelers, and I'm more the sober-friently-get-together type. I'm sure I seem horribly boring to them, and I don't want them to think I don't like them, but at the same time I can't lie to myself and try to be something that I'm not.

Should I be more social? Yes, definitely. It's just hard to do comfortably when I'm surrounded by people, some of whom I hardly know at all, who are doing something I don't feel cool about doing -- namely, getting drunk. I'm not saying that they're bad people, but that it's just not something I'm interested in.

I must seem so horribly boring to all of them, since I don't party and I don't have a lot of drama or excitement in my life. I do have a lot of fun, and I'd love to hang out with them more and have fun with them, but I'm just not a carouser.

I just hope I haven't disappointed anyone...

It's not like we define people by their excessive use of alcohol or lack thereof. This ain't High School and we don't have a drunks only club up in the hizzy here (yo!). Don't worry about it, Rob. No one's pissed or even annoyed at you, just a little dissapointed you didn't hang out more. And we can understand why, so it's all good. On the other hand, it's not like there was some 24/7 drunkfest going on over here, so don't feel like you can't just barge in whenever you like. Everyone else sho'nuff does.

In some circumstances, a house full of drunks can be even more entertaining if you're sober; and ever house full of drunks needs someone with the ability to put two and two together and arrive at a number less than seven.

When I was there, I made fond memories of listening to Bergie repeat the same thing several times, of laughing at the eau d' alcohol from the one half, and having a lovely chat while doing the dishes on 1/1/1 while everyone else was passed out. Not to mention testing decks over a warm and slowly-consumed cup of wassail.

So here's to watching good friends get dr0nk!
