How to defeat Osama bin Laden
Sep. 16th, 2001 09:32 pmA friend of mine pointed me out to this article:
How to defeat Osama bin Laden
This has to be one of the best articles recently that I've ever read. And I agree with it 100%. Blind agression, the kind where thousands of innocent Muslims will get - for all intents and purposes - murdered, will not stop terrorism. It will only stoke the fires of anger that led to this most recent and most heinous attack. Personally, I think the terrorists are baiting us into doing something drastic. They want us to be the villains to justify their cause, and our current course of action will do it.
Our pastor said today that God is just, and that retribution is his, not ours, to decide. If we truly claim to be one nation, under God, then we too must be just. Justice must be swift, and justice must be blind, but it must not be led by anger. When we take justice into our own hands, we're trying to trump God, and I don't believe that's right.
I've prayed more in the last week than I think I have in my entire life. Not formal prayer so much as just using quiet time to say, "God, please let cooler heads prevail, and watch over humanity, and show us the just and righteous path. Don't let us try to justify our actions by using Your name, but show us the proper path"
Hard to believe that just a few years ago, I was a determined athiest, eh?
