nockergeek: (hiding from work)

My gaming time has been split between World of Warcraft and Fallout 3 lately. The former title is fun as always; I'm about six or seven bubbles of experience away from hitting 78, and I am still just loving the quest structure in WotLK. I particularly like how Icecrown and its quest chains unfold like a Warcraft 3 campaign map, complete with base defense and expansion. I particularly love the two airships hoving over the eastern part of the zone, serving as mobile headquarters for the Alliance and Horde's twin pushes to bring the war to the Lich King's doorstep. I'm also one third of the way to getting my epic flying skill (only 3300 gold to go!), so eventually I can stop limping my way through the skies.

Also, the Lunar Festival event has been a bit easier than the Winter Veil event, although I still don't know if I'll finish it and get the title. Mostly, that's due to not being 80 yet, which prevents me from getting into a couple of the instances (such as Utgarde Pinnacle). Of course, seeing as I haven't finished a single Northrend instance, and have in fact only been inside the Nexus (which I would have complete, except that Keristrasza was bugged for us), makes even attempting the Elders of the Dungeon achievement seem comical... and yet, I've already finished the Strat, LBRS, and BRD portions anyway. I would have put the Omen achievement in that group as well, but I managed to luck upon a group of people (both Alliance and Horde) who worked together to bring down the big white beast, and I was right up there with them, keeping the one Alliance melee character alive. :)

Fallout 3 has also been enthralling me, keeping me up into the wee hours of the night as I stumble my way through the Metro tunnels in downtown DC. I'm trying to find my way to the Mall, but I keep getting turned around and popping up in places completely out of my way. I'll give it a good college go, now that I know that I just need to stick to the Red Line tracks. I love the immersion of everything, and even though it's single-player, and everyone I interact with is naught but polygons and AIs, I feel like I'm actually a part of the world and making a difference. One good thing about wandering around downtown DC - I think I can settle down into a lucrative career of repairing and selling hunting rifles taken from the dead hands of super mutants once this whole adventure is over.

Now, to find my way to the Citadel and learn how to wear this lovely suit of power armor I'm lugging around...
