Hrm. I seem to have run out of paid time. Bother. I apologize for the temporary lack of iconage.

I've become spoiled by the laptop. It feels odd being sequestered in my office again in order to use a computer. At this rate, I'm almost tempted to get [livejournal.com profile] the_z her own laptop (especially since Dell just put their Inspirons on sale), but we don't need to rack up any additional debt. Nice idea, but utterly superfluous, especially since we're rarely apart for long - this weekend is a rarity.

Pokemon still has me in its cute-and-cuddly-yet-insistent grip. It's funny - normally, a game as repetitive and grind-filled as Pokemon should send me running for the hills, but there's something about this latest iteration that has me enthralled. I think they've laced the gamecard with aerosol crack or somesuch. Keeping in mind that I never finished Red/Blue back when I had those, I still want to finish this game. I am only a quarter in, so there's still a chance that I may get discouraged yet, but I think that the local crew can keep me focused. Fortunately, for those times that I have Pokeburnout, I've got other games to switch to, like Front Mission 4 (just picked up a new copy this weekend on trade-in) and Rogue Galaxy. Speaking of Front Mission, it makes me sad that we'll never see #5 released state-side/in English, but we're at least getting a North American DS version of the original game, so that's something. :)

Also, I picked up the first of the Gunsmith Cats Revised Edition omnibuses this weekend (great price, too - $17 for 450 pages of manga) and I must say that I'm really digging it. It brings back memories of watching Riding Bean on VHS back when I was growing up. Of course, this means I'll have to pick up the 2nd volume (which is out) and the 3rd (which isn't, yet, but features Bean Bandit on the cover)... and the new series, Gunsmith Cats Burst. I had a chance to glance through [livejournal.com profile] richman1's copy of volume 2 of that series today, and I liked what I saw - car chases, shootouts, and full frontal nudity. What's not to like?

Oh, and the dogs got to chase water from the hose this evening. A good day for all involved.

I loved the Pokémon games, myself. Something about them was really addictive. I've got Yellow and Gold, and I was a rather sad fox when my Gold cartridge stopped working.

As far as manga goes, my short list is the first installment of Ghost in the Shell. It's great and I really need to stop mooching the library's copy and just buy the thing, keheheh.

I've got a few breedable Pokemon that will be good for trading stock when you get the national dex (specifically, Cyndaquil and Chikorita, two of the GSC starters -- I'm still waiting to 'dex a Totodile evolution so I can trade for it). I can also hook you up with extras of the DP starters, if you need them, since they tend to fetch more of a premium than any of the other non-legendary Pokemon from DP.

Once I have something worth trading, I might just have to take you up on the offer. As is, right now I'm only 2 badges in and have my main Pokemon up to levels 19-23, so it might be a while.
