Oh, Sony. You so crazy.

The head of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe says that the 60GB PS3 - you know, the one that just got a price drop? - is being discontinued in the United States in favor of the newer 80GB model, which is going for the pre-drop price. That means that the 60GB model would be on clearance sale.

Sony Computer Entertainment America says, "Uh-uh!"

Kaz Hirai, head of Sony Computer Entertainment says, "Uh-huh!" (in the above story)

I just laugh and plan on buying a 360 and a Wii.

Discontinued in the US.

But not n Europe.

And we're not getting the 80gig.

Yeeeeah, they looooove us.

Plus the European version doesn't support all the PS2 games.

*hugs her Wii and Nintendo DS*

Actually, it supports /some/. But the majority of the latest games either won't play or won't play with high quality.

PS1 games are more likely to play better than, say, FFXII.

It's /ridiculous/.

Exactly. When I got my Wii, I gave my gamecube away to a friend, knowing that I can still play all my GC games. Right now I'm happy with my PS2 and my Wii , I don't want to have several consoles lined up around my desk.

Sony really seems to hate Europe.

And I bet that the new PS3 we're getting in the States is the one that doesn't have the hardware PS2/PS1 emulation.

Pretty much. No Emotion Engine chip, which means roughly 88% backwards compatibility. Pay more, get less!
