Well, I tried to vote today, but I failed. I wasn't aware that I needed to re-register after moving 10 miles last year. I thought that since the county had my updated address for personal property tax reasons, my other addresses would update too. After all, they never sent me any information saying that I had to update my voter information.

Anyway, late last week, I got online and found out where the polling area for my address was. This morning, I go there, only to find that they don't have me listed as being registered to vote in this precinct. That's because of my failure above. However, I show them my new address and discover that even if I had updated my information, this wasn't my polling place. This was for the area west of 291 Highway, and as I less than a mile east of the highway, I can't vote there.

So, in the end, because of a lack of good information on the entire voting process from the county, I have officially been disenfranchised.

This isn't so bad, though. I wasn't going to vote for either major party in the Senate race, so my vote being lost doesn't swing things one way or another. I suppose it would have been a wasted vote (instead of a wasted voter, as it turned out), but it would have been my vote. Would have voted Democrat if Carnahan hadn't voted for the president's Iraq resolution. Too bad for her.

True, Carnahan isn't the best choise for Senator, but I do truly fear the idea of a competely Republican controled Washington.
