Plague is almost out of my system. Actually, doctor thinks I had two plagues, based on my description of my body's reaction to the antibiotics - the strep, and a bacteria or virus causing sinus problems. Once the medicine made my body hostile to the strep, it did the same to the sinus problem, which is why I spent 36-48 hours blowing my nose constantly.
Good news, though, is that Z does not appear to have strep. She still wears out easily, and she's still on the fluids and rest regimen, but the rapid-test throat swab she received at the doctor's indicated no presence of strep. It's 80% accurate, so they sent off a second for culture testing, but all signs point to her being okay, if a bit miserable for a couple of days. This, along with a reassurance that she's doing well at keeping her blood sugar down - she's actually lost a pound in the last week or two, and her glucose numbers yesterday were almost exactly where they should be - has really helped her frame of mind, which then helps mine.
Interesting side note about today's obstetric visit; our normal OB was unavailable this week, so they sent us to see a nurse practitioner at their Blue Springs location. Surprisingly, it ended up being in the same strip mall as A to Z Comics, my old gaming stomping ground. After the doctor's appointment, we stopped in to browse. Other than the issues of comics and some (just some) of the RPGs on the shelves being newer, it was exactly as I remembered it when I was last there, getting a Warlord group going. Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose.
