Over the last 5 years, I've been making car payments every month, always in full, never late. That should count for something on my credit, right?

Then it hits me...

My dad co-signed on the car, and the bills are in his name.

So... my dad's credit is a-o-kay on the car front, and I get none of the credit for that credit, thus weakening my own credit.

Oh well. Par for the course.

If you were a co-signer, it also goes on your credit report. That is what the bank told me when I inquired about this very subject when co-signing a loan for my son; doesn't even matter who's name the loan is under (primary signer/borrower).
