Greetings From Des Moines!
Sep. 9th, 2005 10:01 pmHey everyone! Posting from our hotel, about 7 miles or so from AnimeIowa itself. Thanks to Mom and Dad for the laptop with wireless access; we're online, so
tesstrosa and I can post this weekend after each night. Unfortunately, we don't have a Sony memory stick reader, so
animarelic won't be able to share pictures until he gets back.
Anyway, the first day of the con was positive. Friday started slowly, with the con really not getting moving until about 3PM or so. Dealer's Room opened at 4PM, which is important, because the Artist's Alley was located in the Dealer's Room (very good for getting traffic), and our table's in a good spot.
telophase will be happy to hear that the 7 copies of the Mind Candy manga we had left sold out in just under 2 hours. Shame you won't be able to FedEx us more by tomorrow, Stephanie. :P Outside of the manga, had about $60 in sales - mostly prints and commissions. Only one CD sale (and that was a copy of Kunoichi Illustrated - thanks, Gondee!), but I expect sales to pick up tomorrow and Sunday (we got a lot of "Will you be here tomorrow/this weekend/later?" questions). Finally selling out of some of last year's prints, too, and starting to discuss plans for next year. I think we're going to get a color laser printer, so that Z can do her own prints (including adult material). Also, a poster/small banner has been discussed, along with bookmarks and a couple of additional portfolios. Probably some more non-portfolio pics, too - the gals love the Inu Yasha, so some of that won't hurt. Didn't spend too much money, but with Pulp Fiction and Mo Iikai in the neighborhood, there's really no point, although I did pick up a couple of small things.
Anyway, that's the report from Des Moines for Friday. Oh, and a happy birthday to
kei_neko! Happy 22nd, Jon!
