nockergeek: (pleased)

About 3 weeks ago, I lamented about my beloved Vagrant Story, and how it was utterly lost to me somewhere over the last 5 years or so.

I lament no longer.

Yesterday, while spending a great day with [livejournal.com profile] tesstrosa, we made an attempt to meet [livejournal.com profile] animarelic at the GameXchange where he works. Unfortunately, we picked the wrong location to meet him. Fortunately, this store had a brand-new, still shrink-wrapped and security-sealed Greatest Hits copy of Vagrant Story. Better still, they had a used copy of the Strategy Guide (a book I thought I would never again see on a store shelf) for $8.00 less than the original cover price. Needless to say, they were purchased in a heartbeat. When Z told the clerk behind the counter that the game was calling to me, he picked it up, held it to his ear, listend for a moment, and said, "Yes, I think you're right. It is."

(Did I mention that GameXchange rocks?)

And in other gaming news, I finished God of War on Saturday. I still have the Challenge of the Gods portion to go through, but I'll need to set aside a whole evening for that. 10 challenges, all difficult, and you have to do them in one sitting. After that, though, I'll revisit some games that I haven't beaten yet, like FFX-2, Disgaea, La Pucelle Tactics, Brave Fencer Musashi (and damn, the sequel, the beautiful beautiful sequel came out in the last week or so)... and then, I will return to Vagrant Story. I still have my old game save. ^_^

It's a great store. A wonderful selection of games both new-school and old-school (the NES wall alone brought back many happy memories for Z and myself), and everything's in very good condition. I've never gotten something from them that wasn't in less than excellent shape. Prices are totally competitive with the big chain stores, and they've got things that you'll never find at EB or Gamestop, like Sega Saturn games and Atari 2600 games.

Add in the fact that they've got a very nice used DVD selection (if it's still there next week, we're picking up a used Widescreen copy of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets for $8.00) and wallscrolls, and it's a one-stop console game-geek shop.
