4. Star Wars: Darth Vader
I think it's Vader and his almost completely unrepentant evilness (at least in New Hope and Empire) that made me love villains from an early age. Villains are just more interesting. Vader was evil, but in a cool, methodical fashion. The Luke/Vader fight at the end of Empire really drove that home, when Vader just lowered his saber and calmly let his telekinesis do all the work. He was dark, he was menacing, and he knew that you were no match for him.
5. Firefly: Hoban 'Wash' Washburn
Kaylee's the obvious choice, and while I love her, she's not my favorite. I can identify with Wash. He's technically competent (but not a whiz like Kaylee), he's always cracking wise, and he married a hot woman who can kick his ass five ways to Sunday (but doesn't). That, and he's played by Alan Tudyk, AKA Steve the Pirate from Dodgeball. Gotta love that!
10. Rival Schools: Shoma Sawamura
I'm not a big sports fan, but I am a fan of beating things with a bat (hey, it happened to me once). Shoma beats things with a bat, ergo he is my favorite. Well, actually, it's because he has a bat, wears a baseball cap, and is short and very aggro, just like my old Changeling character, Snick the Redcap. With Snick still fresh in my mind when Rival Schools came out, Shoma easily soared to the #1 spot for me.
15. Star Trek: The Borg (pre-First Contact)
I told you this one was unfair. However, the Borg are a collective, a single hivemind with one purpose, and as such I rank them as one character, albeit it with many... appendages, as it were. Note that I'm only referring to the Borg back in their heyday in ST:TNG. I like my Borg queenless, with china white skin and surgical assimilation. None of this mottled-skinned nanotech crap. And no queens, either; I like my Borg with the single-minded purpose of a locust swarm. I don't want them having a leader, especially not one that tries to be petty and seductive. I want them coldly mechanical and caring only about consuming everything they come across.
