Win98? Oh, the humanity!!

Well, my computer's death spiral got worse and worse as today went on. Updated drivers didn't help, nor did removing and reseating the memory and checking the drive cables. More and more, it seemed as though the hard drive was not to blame, but rather a bad motherboard.

So... my computer is on its way back to the shop, where fortunately it is under warranty. In the meantime, I'm working on an old Win98 box we had sitting around. A 650 MHz P3 with a quarter-gig of memory... yeah, it's not that great, but at least it'll get me through the interim.
