Jul. 14th, 2004 07:42 pmWell, Z's medical coverage is coming at a heavy price.
I think we have to skip AnimeIowa.
I'm looking at the numbers, and considering the $150 or so I'll be losing per paycheck, we're not going to have any money for cons. I haven't told Z yet -- she's napping right now -- but I don't know how to say it. It's going to break her heart. She worked hard to get art ready to sell at A-Kon just so she could make money for AnimeIowa. As is, though, we're going to need her art proceeds to get back to where we were; all our buffer space has been wiped out by this sudden decrease in income.
It's either that, or she goes back to get a job somewhere. Honestly, we won't be able to support our household and have any wiggle-room left over without it. And I mean none. No new videogames (goodbye, Tales of Symphonia), no new manga (goodbye, Trigun, Get Backers, and Bleach), no new cards (goodbye, Warlord). We'll barely have money for renting movies.
Why am I so gloomy? Because after medical insurance, bills, and esitmated gasoline costs (my costs there have nearly doubled since we moved), we've got $460 to run on for the entire month. That's groceries, and a bit of buffer space for emergencies. That's it.
I don't look forward to explaining this to Z. I really don't. Just looking at the numbers alone makes me miserable.
EDIT: Oh, yeah. Almost forgot. Tomorrow's my birthday. What a present life decided to give me. And a day early, too - how considerate of life.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll be over here, explaining to Z again why we can't afford AnimeIowa, despite her insistance otherwise.
EDIT THE SECOND: I miscalculated gasoline expenses (I only calculated 2 weeks worth of gas). Looks like we're running on $388 a month. EVEN BETTER.
