Woke up at 5:30 this morning with a stiff, sore side and the acronym P.O.X. burned into my brain... what weird dream was I having to leave me in such a state?

Second day of working from home, thanks to our company losing its 'net connection. Around 4:30 on Monday, our connection dropped off. SBC checked out the office on Tuesday and said everything's fine there, and they traced it to something downtown. Apparently, it's been further traced to a bad piece of equipment in California, so now we wait with no way for us to access the outside and vice versa. Makes email communication and reviews on draft servers, two core parts of our working model, nearly impossible, so I've gotten official approval to stay home and work from there, where I actually have a connection.

Of course, this also means I get to skip the commute, have Z-cooked lunches, and work in PJ pants, so I'm still waiting for the whole downside of this. :)

The downside of working from home comes when you're trying to co-ordinate work with a fellow employee who only has basic email and web access, especially when you know little to nothing about the project. It gets better when the client gives you a list of revisions to make, even though it's the fellow employee who needs to make them, reducing you to a go-between. Then you have to call the client, and I hate talking to clients when they know I'm at home - I refuse to give them the impression that they can call me whenever they please. I'm sure as hell not giving them my home or cellphone numbers.

It doesn't help that this client is on the west coast, so when I'm done with my work day, they still have 2 hours that they think should be active time for me. The idea of time zones is apparently lost on them.

Yay! The gameport-to-USB adapter worked, so Freespace 2 is all good. So, I've got Diablo 2, Freespace 2, and Warcraft 3 on here now... and I think Starcraft/Brood War and Unreal Tournament (not UT2K3, unfortunately) are the last two games to go back on. Maybe after I finish up Freespace 2, I can give Mechwarrior 3 another go as well.

So many older games (well, except for WC3), so little time...
