It is officially too nice today to be inside at work. I want to go home, just to enjoy the day. I wonder if the boss would let me take a personal day today? Reason: I WANT TO ENJOY 75 DEGREE WEATHER IN MARCH!!!

Well, I started my DDR workout regimen back up last night. Did two 10 minute sets in Workout mode, and then one go at Club Mix 1 besides, so I ended up burning somewhere around 250 to 300 calories. I'm going with Maxim's workout advice - cut out 250 calories a day and burn an extra 250 calories a day for a total swing of 500 calories. Over a week, that's 3500 calories - enough to lose one pound. A nice slow controlled weight loss. We'll see how well it works for me.

Now I just need to do upper body work. I need to do bench presses and curls and such, but the two 8-lb. dumbells we have just won't cut it.

Well, I did end up getting out of work a couple of hours early, so Z and I did some running around this afternoon. We went out to the local comic shop, since it had been a couple of weeks since we last visited. Ordered a copy of Maggie's comic, picked up a book for my dad, a new character portfolio for my paladin in Garrett's game, and a Season of the Crane cardbox (since I missed every SotC tournament recently).

Then, on the way to Target to pick up some essentials, I get a whim that we should go out to Zio's for dinner. Z hemmed and hawed for a second, but her love of Italian food and tiramisu won out over her sense of frugality. We went, had a delightful dinner, and spoiled ourselves a bit.

Afterwards, we did our shopping at Target, then ran by Barnes and Noble to tell Mags that a new Lain book she's been waiting for was in at the comic shop. Oh, and that, according to the Magic Date-ball we saw at Target, I should take her out on a date. (Who am I to question the wisdom of the Magic Date-ball?) On the way out, I saw that the latest Laura Joh Rowland novel starring Sano Ichiro, Black Lotus, was out in paperback, so I picked up a copy. I love samurai detective fiction.

So, all in all, we had a great afternoon. We probably spent a little more money than we should have, but I don't really care. We've been so good about being tight lately that we had to splurge a little. We didn't go crazy - just a little spending. :)

And we get to go out again this weekend to see Resident Evil! Milla Jovovich gets naked and kills zombies (although not necessarily at the same time.) It's going to be fun!

Two nights in a row... hardly a sign of me following through - when I hit a week, I'll be proud of myself - but I did another 27 minutes of DDR tonight. Ended up burning off around 265 calories, according to the meter on the game. I'd say that's about right, judging on how other exercises measure up. If I can keep this up, I'll be slowly peeling off the pounds. It's exciting to think about! One day, I can actually be slim and sexy for my Z!

Now, to get either a good set of freeweights (like, really good adjustable dumbells) or an easy-to-store-under-the-bed exercise machine that can do upper body exercises...
