As I was driving into work, the sky above me was completely overcast, but I could see a break in the clouds to the west... and as I crested a hill, I could see downtown Kansas City in the distance. The surrounding area was gloomy and grey, but downtown itself was bright and sunlit, like a circle of white and grey monoliths bathed in warm white light. Definitely made for an interesting vista.

Blah.

Well, the blue skies and bright sunlight have given way to overcast skies and static-grey clouds. I'm stuck monitoring a database query that's taking an extremely long time (but I dare not open anything else for fear of crashing my system - I've been working on this one query pull for 4 hours now), and the energy of the day has just frozen. It's not gone... just stuck. Jammed, if you will. It's there, but it's not moving much at the moment.

I wonder if now would be a good time to start cranking out those D&D ideas...

What kith are you? Find out here.

And here's what it said further, just for explanation.

"The first time early man dreamed of a better way to do something, the nockers were born. They eternally aspire to a perfection that can never be achieved, and embody the obsessive cycle of inspiration and frustration that plagues all true artists. While they understand the machines they work with on a deep and intimate level, they are utterly mystified by people. They are fiercely competitive and can fix or create just about anything. However, nothing they create is absolutely perfect. There is always a flaw , which gives them a never-ending source of frustration, and hanging out near nockers when they're working is a great way to learn new swear words."

My first personal PHP project is done! Well, sort of done... there's still several features I plan on adding, and I'm sure it'll need cleanup and a bit of bug tweaking, but it's functional! Z wanted a comment system for a few of the pages on her site, so I wrote one. Only took about 3 evenings of work, and even those weren't constant work. I'm sure it can use some more polish, but it works well enough for the moment. I don't have a nifty name for it yet, so we'll just dub it Comment Monkey v0.10.

With that under my belt, I can pause on Comment Monkey long enough to finish up my other PHP project, my simplified PHP weblog system, PHLog. Hell, maybe I can merge Comment Monkey into PHLog; I wasn't originally going to have comments in PHLog, but if I've got the code, might as well use it, neh?
