Weird. Eerie.

I was at work going through a list of people to match to another list of people for a client, cleaning up the first list so that my file reader can parse it properly, and I came across an entry that made me pause.

"006430","359800","Guy Carpenter Company","2 World Trade Ctr., 53rd Fl.",
"New York","NY","10048","(212) 323-XXXX","Sharon","Doernberg","Assistant VP"

2 World Trade Center, 53rd floor.

Wow.

And I was hit by this mental image of this person's office. Her desk, her computer, her coffee mug, perhaps a picture or two of her kids and her husband. The view out over the city, or maybe over the Atlantic. The lighting, the carpet, the grain of her desk, the papers that she was going through... maybe she had a meeting that day.

And it's gone. That office, and everything in it, all gone.

Again, wow.

It's pretty awe-inspiring, especially to someone out in the middle of KC, about as far removed from the whole 9/11 thing as one could be.

So I really don't have much to say. Well, other than I hope that Sharon Doernberg, Assitant VP of Guy Carpenter Company, is okay, and that she's back with her kids and her husband from the picture that's no longer on her desk, and that maybe she's got a new desk somewhere in New York City where she can again look out over the city, or the ocean...

Too much on my plate?

Things I want/need to do:
  • Come up with a coherent idea for a webpage -- the latest concept just isn't working for me. Maybe it's because I want to do something different with the layout, or maybe it's just the lack of fitting content. I don't know. If I can just pull a handful of thoughts together and make them into one solid picture of what I want -- what I REALLY want on my page -- then maybe I can get over this HTML writer's block.

  • Write my latest story for Garrett's game. I'm late, again. But at least I write decent-sized stories.

  • Work on my L5R deck. It needs work.

  • Work on Dan's L5R deck. It also needs work.

  • Get a d20 Rokugan game together. Fortunately, Rokugan doesn't come out until late November, so I have a few weeks before I can even get started -- a welcome pause.

  • Work on the d20 netbook I'm working on. Thankfully, revisions are all that's left; no more major rewrites for me.

  • More work on Z's page. The front page needs some work, and there are bits and pieces I want to redo.

  • Get caught up on some of my games. FFT, FF9, Xenogears, Freespace 2, Starcraft, MechCommander, MechWarrior 3... all are waiting for me to finish them.

  • Sell my Magi-Nation cards on eBay. I had so much hope for this game. So much. I think I lost too must momentum when Dan, Dennis, and Z stopped showing interest, and I couldn't keep the fire burning alone. Now that the enthusiasm's waning, I can't bring myself to care. L5R, on the other hand, has a firm grip on me. Not the solid death-grip it had a year or so ago, but definitely more than it had when I jumped ship.

  • That's all I can think of at the moment. Of course, it is 12:07 AM, and my mind is slowing, so I'm sure there's more. Can't think of it at the moment, though. I should put a To-Do list in my new Journada. That way, I'd have a little electric reminder anywhere I go. It's a fun toy. I hope to get a lot of use from it.
