Let's see... what have I been up to lately?

- Checked out the new central branch of the KC Public Library that just opened near our office. Quite swank on the inside. I can tell that they only have about half the books they normally would -- the shelves still seem a bit bare, although there's still many books -- but from what I understand, the full grand opening hasn't opened yet. Still, nice to have a library so close.

- Ordered the wig for my Jiraiya costume, and all the fabric's been purchased as well. Once I get the wig, I'll be sure to take some pictures. ^_^

- Cancelled my FFXI account and uninstalled the game. Main reason is that I really only get a couple of hours a week to play the game interrupted. It's a bit of a grind, but it wouldn't be so bad if I had more time, as the game is designed to be played in multi-hour blocks. As is, though, I can't justify paying $12.95 a month for 8 hours of play and very little progress. Looks like I'll be switching to World of Warcraft once it comes out; it's designed to be quite playable in 30-minute increments.

- Embarked upon a campaign to get people playing Warlord at A to Z. It won't be easy, but I think that, with a bit of help and perseverance, I can do it.

I am afraid to inform you that no MMORPG can be played in 30 min increments.

They just like telling you that.

Actually, I've been talking to people who are in the WoW beta, and the game's been specifically designed to be playable in those increments. I've also been assured that it actually plays out in practice; the game is based more on completing a series of small quests than on level grinding.

LIES.

MMORPGs consume all time available to them.

It is axiomatic.
