nockergeekY'know, I've been fighting the urge to start waxing pedantic about how badly the Hellboy film broke from established continuity. Don't want to seem like an utterly dickish geek. *^_^* I haven't been this disappointed by a film in years, and I'm just boggled by the sheer number of people who are fawning all over it.
Let's put it this way - I enjoyed Attack of the Clones despite some of its breaks with established Star Wars continuity. I enjoyed The Matrix: Revolutions despite the fact that it seemed to leave a number of things unresolved. Most people consider these two films to be absolute stinkers, and I was able to enjoy them for what they were. Hellboy, though... I think I'd been looking forward to this so much that I had this image in my mind of what it would be, and Guillermo del Toro practically took it, ripped it out of my head, tore it, pissed on it, and then tried to put it back in. I don't appreciate that.
If one thing good has come of it, it's the fact that I've gone back to my Hellboy comics and am now trying to fill the holes in my collection. Going back to the source material and reveling in it.
