Dec. 25th, 2003 10:51 pmAnd so Christmas came to pass, and it was good. Very relaxed and uneventful, and no big presents. We already got our biggest present this year, and we've enjoyed living in it and look forward to living in it for the foreseeable future.
Enjoyed my Christmas present from
greenwings and
animarelic too; hit Level 12 with my Black Mage in FFXI, and did it while in a half-English/half-Japanese party. Thanks to Square's translation tool, though, we were able to communicate without too many problems. FFXI is so good for my online shyness, because you just can't solo that game. You're forced to interact, which means you can't be timid or afraid. Fortunately, people are so friendly in that game, it's never a problem for me.
Had dinner with Mom and Dad, for which we had a delicious pork tenderloin. Y'know, having a professional chef for a mother makes for wonderful holiday meals. ^_^ Right before dinner, though, we gave my parents their gifts. My mother received the gift of tart pans (which she's been wanting for a while), and my dad got the gift of funny... namely, the Robin Williams Live on Broadway 2002 CD. He's been losing his funny due to frustration in the workplace and with the world at large, and I just want to make sure that he can still take a step back and laugh. Sometimes, a good laugh is all that keeps me from the brink of bitterness, but what powerful medicine it is.
Oh, and got an unexpected gift from my grandfather, so now I should have enough money to replace my progressively-flaky DVD drive and old-and-slow CD-RW drives. Got to talk to him for the first time in, oh, 2 years? 3 years? He's been working out and eating healthy; he jokes that he's not losing weight, but just changing shape. You have to understand, my mom's father (affectionately known to me as Grandpoppy) had a big beergut for most of the time I've known him. There's something about knowing that he's doing better gives me a bit of peace of mind that I wasn't aware I was missing.
So anyway, it's been a good Christmas. May everyone's Christmases have been merry. ^_^v
