Want me to describe the system that I've been dealing with over the last 6 days?

An interpreted language, running on top of a compiled language, running on top of a virtual machine, running on top of an actual machine, running on top of Windows 2000, running on top of a clustered system, running on top of (I believe) a hamster with narcolepsy.

So .. Java is acting as a language interpreter? Doesn't that seem rather redundant?

Blame Macromedia; they're the ones that rewrote ColdFusion to run on top of a Java engine.
