Adjusting.
Oct. 3rd, 2003 02:53 pmI'm not used to Z having friends around who aren't also my friends (or at least aren't close friends). She's out running around with her people, and this makes me feel strange. I won't see her much tonight, most likely, and I can't imagine that the weekend's going to be any less busy.
I'm not saying this is a bad thing, really. I'm happy to see her socializing more. It's just odd that she's not socializing along with me. We've always hung out with friends together if she's gone out, and now I'm hearing about her having experiences and doing things that I'm not a part of. I had the same feelings welling up when she went to Baltimore, and after she returned and recounted her experiences. Feelings of isolation, alienation, separation. Not painful, just... unusual. Like she's just a bit more separated from me than before. Makes me feel uneasy, but I've never handled change well, and this is a pretty big change from the Z who always retreats to the office when people are over.
Worst part is, I don't think there's much I can do about it (not that I want to tell her to stop hanging out without me.)
