The Season of the Crane L5R tourney was supposed to be last Saturday at noon, and I couldn't play because Garrett's D&D game was that night at 4:30, and there was no way I could get the tourney done and make Garrett's game.

However, I stopped by A2Z anyway, to deliver some cards to Jed and a gift to Seth, and to just say hi. Turns out no one showed up besides them, so they said they would reschedule the tournament to this Saturday. "Great!" I thought. "I don't have a game this week... I can play in this one!"

Then yesterday, I was on Deathseeker.com checking the news, and sure enough, they mention the rescheduling. And then I see the time.

7:00 PM.

This means that the tournament likely won't finish until at least 2 AM. Well, that's all well and good, but I have to be at church at 8:00 AM the next morning. There's no way I'll make it with only about 4 or 5 hours of sleep. So, the one day I can play in a tournament, they move it to a time that makes it impossible to play. Sure, I could play for a couple of rounds, but then I'd have to drop - what's the point?

I've never figured out why they start tourneys so late in the day. Noon makes much more sense. Some of us have lives and obligations and things we have to get sleep for. Oh well. No L5R for me for the next few weeks, since my only real chance to play is at tournaments, and the only tournaments are either on the wrong weeks or too late.

*sigh*

I refuse to pay money to play in a tourney just to drop. That's paying for the chance for anyone but me to get the prize. If it were a free tourney, it wouldn't bother me so much.

Hell, I wouldn't even care if I could at least play some people for free around here, but it seems like it's tourney-only around here.
