Trying to find a way to get [livejournal.com profile] evildennis's old computer (or at least its mobo, CPU, heatsink/fan, memory, and vid card) into a new case for [livejournal.com profile] hidaman to use. Dan's going to need a new case, PSU, and case fans. Full tower case preferable, as is a 350+W PSU, and if we can make it glow, all the better. Oh, and the budget's $100, although we can go over that for shipping if need be.

I like a challenge. ^_^ Bringing the might of the PVP Forums to bear on it now...

Why waste money on glowing? Spend it on better hardware. :)

1) The glow isn't a must-have item; it's a "wouldn't it be nice" item. It can also be added later - for example, cold cathodes aren't part of this budget.

2) That said, a case w/ window isn't much more expensive than one without, and LED fans aren't much more expensive than plain fans. Sure, we can beige-box it if there's no othere way, but it shouldn't be a major drain on the budget.

3) Why? The same reason that we do anything - because we can, and because we enjoy doing it.

Okay, I was thinking you were going to glow now, and I'm sitting here thinking 'Get him spiffy case and monster PSU or something, don't waste money on glowyglowyness.'

But then, we've already had the conversation about what I think of ricing out the computer with the glow. :P

Yes, we know, you don't like rice in your PC. ^_^
