Must get you into World of Warcraft when it comes out, then. There's a whole continent of purple people, since Night Elves are playable. The females even have pet panthers... see? (http://www.blizzard.com/wow/screenshot.aspx?ImageIndex=1&Set=35)
well, any race (minus human) can get a panther...all you have to do is be the Hunter class...(which Humans can't become...)
but you did get me to look and compare what i can see...
Graphics: EQ - low-res, old-school, first gen stuff, blocky look EQoA - mid-res, cartoony look FF11 - mid-res, video game look WoW - high res, cartoony look EQ2 - high res, realistic look
from what I could read about WoW, it sounds as if they're taking stuff from each of the other MMORPGs such as the PvP from EQ, and the combat style of FF11...but there's still more i don't know...
EQ2's graphics blow everyone else's away...however the system requirements for it make it require a top of the line system...that and they're trying to work more realism into the game, and it will feel more like EQ+StarWars Galaxies...
in the end, I don't know much about the WoW world, since I didn't play WIII, and thus i don't know if the nations are friendly to one another, hate one another, have open fighting between them or if it's all political squables...since one thing I didn't like was in WoW they said your race determined where you started...meaning we'd all have to play Night Elves if we wanted to play together...unlike FF11 where you can pick your nation reguardless of race/class/etc...
but all in all I've always said I could only support one online game, and my hat has been tossed in the right with FF11, since I love the story, the graphics and the fact that everyone i've seen playing is a fan of the series, which makes it cool...I will say you're right, from what i've read up on so far, WoW does sound more intriguing to me than everquest...but Final Fantasy is my game of choice.
Well, current word right now is that there will be two alliances in the game - the Human alliance (Humans, Dwarves, and Night Elves), and the Orc alliance (Orcs and Tauren). Now, what comes of this as more races and classes are announced, we don't know. The developers have mentioned that there will be zones of open warfare between the two factions, with mass battles.
