My first game in a dozen years
Before yesterday, I hadn't played a game of WH40K in almost 12 years. Yes, I've been collecting Tau for the past year, but actually playing with my figures was a different matter entirely. The last time I'd played was back in college, when the 2nd Edition rules were out and the Tau were but a gleam in Games Workshop's eye.
However, yesterday I followed up on an invite from someone on FO (Maz) to head out to a store in Olathe to play. I had to overcome a spot of social anxiety when I got there - the store was very crowded due to two separate tournaments (one Magic, one 40K) going on simultaneously - but I went back to my car, took a couple of moments to recompose myself, and bravely trudged back in. I ended up having a very good evening, meeting some really nice new people, getting a bit of detail painting done on my Fire Warriors, and actually getting most of a game in (which we had to call due to it being 9 PM and me having to get back to

So,
tim_almasy and
kbrighton, when you two slackers get your armies together (and if you want to get together some time to work on that, let me know - I still have two boxed sets to work on), we have an additional store to play at (and oh, the tables they have for playing) and an open invite to come out on any Saturday to play.

We're gearing up for DieCon over on this side of MO. We get to hold the last Warmachine-only Hardcore!
It's the last weekend in May (the one that runs into June 1st that Sunday.) Love to see you there!
Oh, and I've been debating about a return to 40k. Every time I think on it, I tell myself to wait to see what 5th ed looks like.
