All I want for Christmas is...
It's not even Thanksgiving yet, but the Christmas lists are already starting to appear.
the_z posted hers, and she's asked me to put up a wishlist of my own. Strangely enough, unlike years past, I actually have a good idea of what I want this year. So, without further ado...
Okay, I think that's everything. If anything else comes to mind, I'll post an update, but I think this is more than enough for this year.
I don't have anything gigantic on the list, just a bunch of small/medium-sized items that I have my eyes on.
To start with, games. I've actually been forbidden from buying any games for myself until Christmas, just to make shopping for me easier. With the lifecycle of the PS2 done, and with no Wii in the house (although it is on Z's list), it looks like we're in XBox 360 Land. I've been looking for/looking forward to:
- Guitar Hero 3 (with the new wireless controller, natch)
- Mass Effect
- Eternal Sonata
- Call of Duty 4
- Halo 3
While we're on the XBox, XBox Live membership cards or marketplace points cards are always appreciated. The Quick Charge kit for rechargeable batteries would be nice as well.
DVD-wise, there's no movies I'm looking for, but there are some boxed sets I'm seeking out:
- Baian the Assassin (just spotted this at Best Buy for $15; Ken Watanabe as an accupuncturist assassin)
- Ken Burn's The Civil War (one day, it will be mine)
- Rome, Season 2
- House, Season 3
Comedy CDs are big on the list this year. The new Dane Cook CD would be nice, as would anything by Jim Gaffigan, Christopher Titus, Ron White, or Brian Regan.
Warhammer 40k figs are always good. ANY Tau miniatures are welcome, even if it's something I already have - it'll let me have multiples, variant paint jobs, etc. I also really, really, really need some good brushes - something sable or golden taklon, in sizes ranging from 3 down to 10/0. Vallejo Game Color paints are useful too, regardless of color. I'd like to be able to retire the old craft paints that I've accumulated by replacing them with Vallejos. Also, a miniatures case, especially one of the Games Workshop hard cases (with the red foam inserts), would be wonderful.
For other gaming items, extra dice are always good, especially in reds, oranges, and yellows - my favorite colors. Six-siders and ten-siders are especially welcome. There's a few board/card games I have interest in - Zombie Fluxx, Dust, and Tannhauser. RPG books aren't terribly high on the list at the moment, but here's some that I could use:
- Mutants and Masterminds: Freedom City 2nd Edition, Ultimate Powers, Golden Age, Iron Age, Hero High, Paragons
- Shadowrun, 4th Edition: Main book, Runner Havens, Street Magic, Augmentation
- Changeling: Autumn Nightmares
Also, big fuzzy polyhedral dice for Andromeda would be awesome.
I like amusing/geeky T-shirts. Most things from ThinkGeek are all good, or any of the Team Fortress 2 shirts from http://store.valvesoftware.com/ are good. The Portal shirt would be awesome (well, once they're back in stock). Whenever it comes out, the Weighted Companion Cube paperweight would be full of win and love.
I'd ask for anything related to Hanatarou from Bleach, but I think I have all of it already. There might be a gashapon figure of him that I don't have yet, but that's about it. However, if I can be surprised with more, I won't cry. Failing that, anything Rangiku Matsumoto is a welcome substitute. Other than that, not really looking for much in anime/manga swag this year.
Finally, the catch-all - gift certificates/cards. Some people get sheepish about these, but they shouldn't. I can always use free money for Best Buy or Borders. Target and Kohl's work too; one never knows when one will need new/replacement clothing.
Oh, and a note - much like
the_z, I'd prefer that no one shop for me at Wal-Mart. Considering what's on my list, I doubt it's much of a danger, but just in case, I ask that you don't. I'm a big believer in voting with your dollars, and I'd rather not give Wal-Mart any, directly or indirectly.
