All Good Things...

...Must Come To an End.

After much reflection and pondering, and after taking a look at the lay of the land, I think it's time that I bid Warlord a fond adieu. I can't say that I'm quitting with a heavy heart; I haven't played since October, really, and I haven't been able to run events (since I refuse to install MSDE on my box just to run AEG's new event tracking software), so it's been a while in coming. Just time to get out there and get it over with.

Now, this doesn't mean I'm quitting the game entirely. I'm still going to keep decks around to play with for the fun of it. If anything, this is extremely liberating - if I'm not following the tournament scene and keeping my decks legal in the current environment, then I'm free to play with anything I have. Sure, I traded off some of my old-school power cards, but I've still got a decent amount floating around. I'm free to make any decks I want with my cards. I'm also thinking about selling/trading all my other cards to [livejournal.com profile] richman1 and [livejournal.com profile] evildennis to use in deck-making, so that they too can know the love of open deckmaking. It's also financially liberating - one less game to keep up with!

So yeah, it's been fun for the last couple of years or so, but I think it's time to move on, game-wise. Strangely enough, my original big CCG, Magic, is drawing me back in. Looking at where the game has gone in the past few years, I have to say that I like where they're going with the game, and that it's a great game to have on the side for casual/fun play. I'm good with that.

Magic really does seem to have regained popularity within our group, hasn't it? Is it just the interesting new storylines that have drawn people in? Or nostalgia?

Hmmm. As for the extra/old Warlord cards... I don't know. In my mind Warlord has already gone the path of L5R. It was a great game, and had its time, and now it's memories.

I can still see us picking it up for a Warlord night once every few months, and true I do still have a couple decks I've been wanting to make/finish. So maybe sometime we could do the Warlord night and releave you of cards you don't want. (I know I've inherited all of Dan's old Rage, which we still haven't done anything with. *chuckle*)

Seen this coming for quite a while now. I figured when my attempts to get some Warlord play in before the new Magic set came out went in vain, that I would have no difficulties putting the Warlord cards back into the closet (not that my lazy but has actually done that yet)

It's all good though, Magic has always been my favorite, hell I've never really stopped buying packs since I started years ago (Ahh fond memories of 'The Dark') just had slow times when I didn't buy as much.

I join you in bidding a fond farewell to yet another 'Cardboard Addiction'
