A bit tired this morning, but that's because I was working until 11 last night on a client's website. Going to put in more work on it today, but mostly just content loading, so nothing really taxing.
That's not why I'm posting, though. I'm posting because I'm torn regarding Half-Life 2.
Half-Life 2 was the reason I upgraded my computer to the pretty decent gaming rig it is now. After watching the initial E3 footage over a year ago, I knew I wanted to play, especially after how much I loved the first Half-Life. I can care less about Counterstrike and the other multiplayer portions, as I rarely play any FPS online (as I'm just not that good at it, and don't have the time to devote solely to getting good), but I want the single-player experience of Half-Life 2. Even Z told me, after seeing the E3 footage, that I would buy this game and she would watch it over my shoulder (which is what we did with Half-Life in the first place).
Then it was delayed a year, and now it's finally gone gold, and will be released next month.
On the one hand, I want to play still. I've heard nothing but good things about the single-player campaign, and the new Source engine they're using looks absolutely beautiful. If I get it, it'll be the collector's edition (which I'll need to pre-order), which includes the game on DVD (a must, as far as I'm concerned), and also has a remastered version of the original Half-Life using the new graphics engine. That right there would have me sold.
On the other hand, I'm a bit burned by the one-year delay. However, that's not my main concern against getting it. My main concern is that World of Warcraft will be coming out within a month or two, and that has a good chunk of my time reserved and paid for. I've got the Collector's Edition of WoW reserved as well, and I can only really afford one $80 Collector's Edition game at a time. Also, once WoW comes out, my gaming life will be like, "Mr. Freeman, I can't talk to you now. I have undead to slay and orcs to oppress."
So, get a game that I've been waiting for for over a year, and includes extra goodies for my happy nostalgia, or skip it for the game that I've already played and know that I will love.
So torn, so torn.
