nockergeek: (nothing is cool)
The rash, which was subsiding, decided to come back with a vengeance, so I decided it was time to call in the authorities. The doctor (who I didn't actually see today, due to being booked solid for the day) hooked me up with some prescription cortical steroids, told me to take antihistimines (she recommended generic Zyrtec), and told me to come back if it hadn't started clearing up by Monday. The current hypothesis (based on the nurse practitioner's observations) is that I've got something akin to a poison ivy reaction, which I don't think I've ever had before.

On a side note, the first few minutes after applying a steroid cream (whether it's off-the-shelf hydrocortisone or something stronger) to a rash are an absolute hell of itchiness, but it leads to relief. That promise of relief makes those maddening minutes bearable... but just barely.
