A very busy but very good weekend
It's been a very, very busy weekend. Lots of running around, getting things together and ready for Andi's first birthday party, as well as squeezing in time to get a few things together for
the_z's birthday and getting in all the regular errands and time with friends. Right now, I'm exhausted (just in time for work), but it's a good exhaustion, tempered with the feeling of having had a very good time.
Saturday started off with our bi-weekly grocery run, which we followed up with lunch with
xvolph,
evildennis, and
hidaman. Andi got to show off how much she likes avocado and how much she likes Coke (even a tiny, tiny sip gets her all giddy). After that, we ran out to Hobby Lobby to pick up some art supplies for Z, and then we went on an impromptu wild goose chase for rare earth magnets (I have a Tau Devilfish that needs some repairs, and they're part of the easiest repair). Fortunately, Saturday was a beautiful day, so we just did some strolling around in Overland Park, and finished up the trip with a stop at Dairy Queen, where Andi got to enjoy her very first ice cream cone. Afterwards, I even managed to get all my unprimed miniatures primed for painting (and retouched the priming on my horribly neglected Warmachine miniatures). There was a lot of running around, but it was a very fun, productive day.
Sunday, however, saw even more running around. First, I ran Ein up to the dog park (which, sadly, was closed for turf repair.) Next, I drove out to Toys R Us in an attempt to get Z a Wii for her birthday - a successful attempt, I can happily report. After that, it was back out for a third drive to drop off her artwork for the church's Prince Caspian study materials. Three separate trips, all in the span of 2 hours. Lunch was a quick delivery from Pizza Hut (and by the way, the Pizza Mia pizzas are damn tasty), and then it was time to get Andi to her party. Many people turned out, and much fun was had by all (including Andi, who apparently loved the soft play area at the park). I even managed to beat Dennis in a round of minigolf, which is something I don't think I've ever pulled off before. (On a side note, it was strangely nostalgic. The last time I played Dennis in minigolf, it was followed by a visit to a strip club, since it was my bachelor party. This time, there was a distinct lack of strippers.)
Sunday night, everyone collapsed.
It was a very hectic, busy weekend - and I would do it all over again.
