Picked up The Orange Box (the latest Half-Life 2 compilation, for those who don't know) for the 360 on Thursday. Yes, I know I am without a job, but I have work and money coming in, I've got what sounds to be a very good job possibility in the works, and Z (who is the financially conservative one) agreed that we needed to do something to break our monkish habits of late. I picked it up for the 360 for a couple of reasons:
  1. Playing HL2, Portal, and Team Fortress 2 on our HD set is just beautimous, and
  2. My four-year-old computer just wouldn't handle it as well as I would like.
Completed the first runthrough of Portal today, too. What a wonderfully twisted puzzle game. Now I have to go take on all the "Advanced" challenges. On HL2 (which I've never played - yes, I know it's 3 years old), I'm working my way through Ravenholm (and hoping to do it with just the Gravity Gun to get that achievement). As far as TF2 goes, I'm still getting a feel for the classes, the maps, and playing multiplayer FPSes on a console. I think I'm out of practice with FPS multiplayer play in general; I tried out the UT3 demo, and I was doing horribly. I don't have the twitch reflexes that I had six years ago (and I wasn't even that good then). Oh well - practice makes perfect.

Also, if I get UT3, looks like it'll be a 360 purchase as well, unless I get a brand new computer between now and then - fat chance of that happening!
