I keep eyeing my Dell account, as we were approved for way more than we needed to get Octavian (our laptop), and Dell sells XBox 360s... I don't need the temptation, and so far I've been good to not succumb. Honestly, I should wait until the 360s with the cooler 65nm processors come out anyway, as at least two of my friends have lost 360s to the 3 Red Lights of Death in the last month. Besides, [livejournal.com profile] animarelic has already made the offer to loan me his 360 whenever I want it. Not quite the same as having one's own, but it's how I lost my 360 cherry in the first place. I can safely blame Max for turning me to the Dark Side.

Well, that and Sony's amazing ability to drive me away as a customer with the PS3. Nothing on that system interests me - not even FF13, which looks far too much like FF8 for my tastes.

Let's see, what else. We're getting carpet put down in the living room before too much longer. Found a good price and good financing. We were hoping to get the hallway done, too, but judging from measurements, we're about 4 inches too wide to get that done on the same 15' roll as the living room. Wasn't really planning on getting it done quite yet, but [livejournal.com profile] the_z wanted to get it done before Andromeda starts crawling around, so it's a good idea to do it now. This does mean that some time in the next few weeks, we're going to have a furniture-moving party, as we move all our shit out of the living room, and then back in. There will be invites, with pizza (and possibly beer) afterwards. Watch this space for details.

Oh, and today is Father's Day. My first Father's Day where I'm a receiver instead of just a giver. It's kind of surreal, but this is kind of a surreal year. I'm a dad, I turn 30 in a month, we own a house... I guess I've finally "grown up" in a societal sense. Leaving the confines of young adulthood for adulthood means just want it looks like - I'm not "young" anymore. I'm still pretty young in spirit - sometimes, high school feels like yesterday - but in the eyes of the world, I'm "Mister Barr" now. That is somewhat bizarre; one of those things I never thought of when I was going through high school and college and the workforce. I never made any sort of plans for this, but I think I'm doing okay despite that.
