It's been an epic Greek slaughterfest week. Picked up God of War 2 on Wednesday, and it's been as wonderfully huge and violent as the original, if not moreso. I'm about halfway through my first runthrough the game, and I've been loving it. There are a few minor annoyances (I don't like how the Wings of Icarus are used), but nothing that makes me not want to play it. Extra bonus: Harry Hamlin reprises his role as Perseus from Clash of the Titans.

Followed it up by finally catching 300 in the theater with [profile] the_z. Definitely enjoyable, and the audience really got into it - at least 3 times during the film, they broke into applause. Overall, I'd give it a 7.5/10. Great look, good cinematography (although that comes more from Miller's original art than the director's vision), and a classic good underdog v. evil empire tale. I'd have given it 8/10, but there was just a bit too much gratuitous slow-motion for my tastes. I imagine it was used to try to capture mid-combat images from the comic, so I'll cut the producers some slack. Other than that minor gripe, I quite enjoyed it.
