Jan. 31st, 2007 10:23 pmYesterday, I actually used the phrase, "The cold is making my bones hurt." This officially marks me as ancient, I think. Somehow, I skipped middle age and went straight into retirement. It might just be the winter, though. 2 weeks of ice on the yard, cold temperatures (for Missouri, anyway), and more snow on top of the ice will prematurely turn anyone into a gray-haired curmudgeon. I don't feel unnaturally grizzled otherwise, thuogh, so perhaps it will pass when the warmer temperatures come. They will come, won't they? I hope so, and I hope they take the snow with it. The drive home was interesting. We had, at most, an inch of snow at the time, but that snow managed to turn to slush at key points that killed my traction.
In other news, I haven't had a good opportunity to work on more Tau minis, mostly because I'm out of super glue and a good time to pick up more just hasn't presented itself. I'm halfway tempted to pick up some of the official GW plastic cement, if for no reason than the Loc-Tite glue containers I was using are increasingly hard on the fingers as you run out of glue. It's a bit pricier, true, but I imagine the results will be just as good, if not a bit better. I keep eying well-price Megaforce boxes online (much like the one that
feeple scored), but I have other things for which to save, like the baby. Besides, no sense buying a second, bigger portion of my army when I haven't even finished gluing the first portion.
(
kbrighton keeps tempting me with knowledge that the Friendly Local Gaming Store has Broadsides in stock. They're too damn expensive right now, but at least I only need 3 at most.)
No major complaints on the rest of things.
the_z conks out early each night, but that's to be expected, considering she has a wee, baby-shaped thing sapping her for nutrients and oxygen. A lot of the baby prep is done, though. Nursery's finished, childbirth and newboard care classes are scheduled, and another doctor's visit is next Monday. It sounds like a lot, but it's really not bad. I've got a book to read on fatherhood and what to expect. I suppose that in a few months, we'll see how good it really is. :)
