Thanks to the Mexican credit card thieves, we're officially $465.81 poorer until the bank refunds the money. Hopefully, that will be soon, but in the meantime, it really puts a crimp in what we wanted to do this month. A small tree would have been nice.

A real shame that people do things like this during the Christmas season, but I suppose it's just proof that people aren't perfect.

Like [livejournal.com profile] tesstrosa, though, I'm curious to know what was purchased with our money. $323 at an Office Depot in Celaya, Mexico, and a total of $142 at a Sanborns (apparently, a Mexican Best Buy/Circuit City/Hastings-style chain) in the same city. All I can hope (probably foolishly, but that's me) is that they got things that they needed, or gifts for friends/family that they couldn't afford any other way. It doesn't forgive them of what they did, and it doesn't mean that I don't want the money back (as we need it for bills and rent and food, too), but the hopeful Christian in me prays that they weren't just greedy with it.

I get a free lunch tomorrow, paid for by AMD. (Yes, the manufacturer-of-processors AMD.)

Also, my boss has said that if I need it, he can get me an advance on my next paycheck to help with the banking situation. Life is good.

Okay, the bank security rep was wrong; my ATM card is disabled. Have to get cash the old-fashioned way - writing checks. This makes fuelling a pain, as the gas stations in the area are all pre-pay. :/
