Got back last night. (I would have posted earlier, but our 'net connection was non-functional for some reason.)

Anyway, I survived Atlanta traffic, the Appalachian mountains, and the remnants of Hurricane Rita on the drive back from Jacksonville to KC. I think I've earned a cookie.

I can feel a bit of exhaustion and release settling into my body, now that everything is done. Z's mom is here, the dogs are back home, and I'm returning to work (albeit a couple of hours late). I'd love to take today off, but there's too much to do, so this brief respite will have to do.

Still, it's nice to be back in our own home, not driving for 10 hours, not on a whirlwind timetable to travel 2400 miles (round trip) in 4 days, not sleeping in motel rooms, not sitting behind the wheel of a strange car. It's good to feel equilibrium settling in again.
