(no subject)
I've been a bit idle on the LJ. Bad me! Bad! No biscuit!
That's okay. I need no biscuit. I have God of War. Such a delightfully cathartic orgy of carnage. From what I've been reading, the first level (wherein you can dismember zombies with your bare hands, pluck the wings off of harpies, and impale hydra heads on ship masts) is just the tip of the bloody red iceberg. The thing is, though, the violence? It's all gravy on top of the gameplay. The gameplay is smooth like butter. One move seamlessly chains into another, which combos into another... as long as you've got enemies to kill, you can keep swinging. Speaking of swinging, after the first level, there's an optional minigame wherein you can leap into bed with two topless Greek women (yes, that's right, toplessness in a PS2 game) and pleasure them (off-camera, anyway). This game is not for kids, the timid, or the easily offended. It's earned that "M" rating on its case several times over. That doesn't change the fact that it's one of the best action games that I've ever played, and the scores it's been getting from various review sites (all in the 9-10 out of 10 range) backs that up.
Meanwhile, I'm mentally prepping myself for the Warlord Kansas City Championships. I will take my deck and do my best, but I'm not going in with any expectation of winning. I'll do my best, and be content with that. I want to support my game, get some practice in, and have a good time, and I think I can do all of that. (Yes, I called Warlord "my game". No, I have nothing to do with it design- or production-wise. I've just claimed it as my CCG love.) I do wish it was somewhere other than A to Z comics, as that store will be damn crowded, but I'll live.
Let's see... beyond that, I'm trying to cut down my food intake a bit, and exercise a bit more. Not quite to the extent that
tesstrosa is, but somewhat. Mostly, I've been having more fruit and less sugary food. Well, fruit is sugary, but it's not processed sugar. More grains and fiber too, and smaller portions of fatty foods. We'll see if this pans out.
Oh, and the PSP? Yeah, that thing's sex in handheld format, but the price tag makes it Heidi Fleiss-style luxury sex, outside my budget at the moment. Well, technically we could drop the money on it, but just because we could doesn't mean we should. Besides, it's not like Nes and Red (our GBAs) don't keep us entertained. I think Z and I are going to wait until the price drops a bit, or until we come into a large pile of money by surprise. One day, one day... but (probably) not yet.
Oh, and tonight? It's gaming night! An evening spent with peoples, having the fun! Huzzah!
