nockergeek: (tired)
I'm hoping that this is the last bit of cold/sinus problems that I have to deal with. My ears seem to have drained overnight, which is good, because my head doesn't hurt now. All I have left is some neck tension and a sore throat that seems to be fading as the day goes on. Been trying to stay productive, and have been succeeding more often than I've been failing, so that's good too.

Last night's gaming and pizza night went really well. We had fewer people than we would have hoped, but that's okay -- we'll get those who missed it next time. ^^ We got in a game of Pimp: The Backhanding (in which I discovered that Ben's Sister, besides being a Crack Ho, got knocked up by a Donkey) and a game of Gloom (in which I told the Sad and Tragic Tale of Grogar, the Bear With Very Little Human Brain). Next time, I'm hoping that [livejournal.com profile] animarelic brings his DuelMasters cards, because I wouldn't mind getting a game or two of that in. Still need to teach him Warlord as well.

Speaking of AEG games, [livejournal.com profile] kitsuandy did end up getting a Day of the Bullet pre-release kit, so I've set up a tourney for March 20th, the Day of the Bullet itself (and [livejournal.com profile] tim_almasy's birthday; what a great coincidence!) I was surprised to hear that our local circle of spies ([livejournal.com profile] hidaman, [livejournal.com profile] kbrighton, [livejournal.com profile] foxkit, and [livejournal.com profile] tim_almasy) got absolutely schooled by a group of players from St. Louis, but it hasn't dimmed their enthusiasm for the game, as far as I can tell. Of course, I don't really play Spycraft much, but I'm interested in seeing what pointers they picked up.

Not sure what to do tonight... work on sorting/rebuilding Warlord, play WoW, or *gasp* possibly work on Mandarin. Probably won't work on the latter, though -- I haven't been quite hitting my coding stride as much as I would like at work. Maybe when I'm fully healthy again, and the office isn't so quiet; almost everyone else is out of town or working from home today. I've been kicking around the idea of an In Nomine one-shot, or reviving my idea for a Mutants and Masterminds game, too, but I don't know if anything will come of either of those ideas. Just depends on if anyone's interested, and if I can keep focused and not get cold feet.

Focus is my weak point. Discipline is my weak point.

I think I should try to work out tonight, if I feel up to it.

I just picked up the first volume of the English translation of the Tenjho Tenge manga. I won't be picking up the second. Why not? Because it's been heavily censored.

Rant within. Tread carefully. )

In short, I cannot recommend the English translation of Tenjho Tenge. In fact, after this and seeing the other lackluster titles they've picked up, I can't recommend anything by CMX. At least Dark Horse, TokyoPop, and Viz know better than to try to repackage a mature-audiences title for teens.
