Aug. 26th, 2004 11:07 amSometimes, I do detest the lack of good communication in this office.
We have 3 developers on staff. I come in this morning, and find out that the other two are out on-site in two separate locations... and guess what? Both of them have emergency changes that need to be done now. One of them's telling me (for the first time) that this change that he needs (which I was working on yesterday, just from a lack of other things to do) has been promised for 3 days, and the client is "getting pretty hot about it."
Well, y'know what? Had you told me about it 3 days ago, maybe it would be done by now, instead of me only finding out about it yesterday, and not being told it was a critical piece of code until just now.
Fuckers. We really need to get our shit together here.

Aug. 26th, 2004 02:57 pmWell, things at the office have cooled down. One of the emergency jobs has been dealt with, and the second is being examined (as it appears to be a configuration issue, not a progamming issue). This is good; I don't feel the urge to set someone on fire now. Got to watch that pyrotechnic impulse. :)
Other than that, not much going on. Budget is updated for the next two weeks, paycheck's deposited tonight (and let me tell you, it's nice to know that I was wrong about being so strapped on cash. I can live with being at pre-raise levels), and we have an appointment for Runcie to get his brake pads replaced. Shouldn't be more than $300, which we're good for. That's another good feeling -- being able to take care of car maintenance without running to my parents for help. ^_^
