nockergeek: (tired)
20 minutes until I leave for the airport for my first business trip out-of-state in 4 years. Flying to Indianapolis to meet with a client. Going to be a long day, too; fly in this morning, fly back in the evening, get home around 10:30-11:30. Glad I'm not doing the driving; Dad offered me a ride to and from the airport. This is good, as I'm not an early morning person, nor am I a late-night-extremely-exhausted person.

Found out yesterday that we've got a connecting flight in Chicago. This should be interesting, as I haven't done the connecting flight thing since I was a little kid, and that was only once. Kind of looking forward to seeing O'Hare, though. Never been to Chicago before, even if it's just passing through. Of course, I've never been to Indianapolis either. Shame it can't be in 2-3 weeks, because then I could convince my boss to let me stop in at GenCon (hey, a guy can dream, right?)

...jiggity-jig.

4 flights today -- 2 getting to Indianapolis, 2 getting back. By the end of the day, take-off and landing were almost routine. It's just like Jack suggested in Fight Club; you go to sleep in Chicago, you wake up in Indianapolis, and once you're out on the concourse, you might as well be in the same place. The airport's almost a mall, even beyond the security point -- restaraunts, bookstores, gift shops. Well, every airport except KCI. At KCI, once you go through security, you're at your gate and there's fuck-all to do, nowhere to go. I think I liked the mall-types better.

That, and the moving walkway was cool.

Of course, I'm sitting here in my chair at home, and I feel like I'm still moving, and my ears are well and truly stuffed up from all the changes in air pressure. I hope all the Coke I drank today doesn't keep me awake too long. I'm running on fumes as we speak.
