Feb. 9th, 2004 12:29 pmWell, back in the office for the first time since Wednesday, and it feels good to be back. I do enjoy working from home, but it's easier to be productive when I have all of the necessary materials, manuals, programming references, and such right at hand. I need to get copies of some of these PHP books for my own personal library, Anywho, getting work done, looking forward to dinner company tonight and picking up FF:CC tomorrow. Wednesday I'll jump back into FFXI (was going to play it this weekend, but just didn't get in the mood).
Honestly, I'm finding myself being much more interested in squad-based FPSs than MMORPGs. Something about the slow level-grinding aspect of MMORPGs is just losing my interest. Well, that, and the fact that MMORPGs... well... they're not that exciting. There's the "wow" factor when you see things for the first time, but it wears off after a while. You soon come to realize that the game is just "walk walk walk, target, con, auto attack, wait, wait, trigger weapon skill macro, finish combat, rest, repeat". I'll take "run, keep eyes open for enemy, check for tracer fire, sneak from cover to cover, find objective, place bomb/repair tank/load ammo/etc., avoid fire, shoot enemies, lob grenades, call in airstrikes" any day.
