Just reflecting that the apartment definitely looks like we're moving now - boxes packed up in the living room, a couple of shelves mostly empty of books, all the CDs and DVDs packed away, and no wall decorations. If we can keep this rate up, we should be easily out of here before the 30th. As far as the house goes, just have to do some touch up painting in the guest room, and paint the walls in the master bedroom today. Then we can use those rooms as staging areas for our stuff. After that, we finish the flooring in the living room, hallway, and office, repaint the living room (which won't take too long), repaint the kitchen walls and cabinets, finish one counter top, put in the new kitchen sink, and then demolish/rebuild the bathroom.

It sounds like a lot, I know, but it's really not. If we can get people helping with the repainting, that part will go really fast.

Whew. Busy day. Got a lot done, though...

- Got all our bills switched over to the new address; got cable modem service set up for our new house, so we should only have a day or so without high-speed access. No worse than a vacation, really.
- Got the last touches on painting the guest room done, so it's ready to be de-masked and moved into.
- Mowed the yard. Doesn't sound like much, but I've never mowed a yard before, so it was a first for me. Actually, got the yard 2/3rds of the way mowed. Mower died just as it was getting dark, and I couldn't get it restarted. I'll have Dad look at it tomorrow morning and see what happened.

Z also got a lot of landscaping done - trimmed up the bushes, took some stray limbs off of the tree in back, and pulled up some overgrown sunflowers. The backyard looks much, much cleaner now.

Also had a blast from the past; went out to Arby's to get dinner, and ran into an old high school friend (who was the manager). Haven't thought about him in years, liiterally, but it was good to see him again. Had to dig deep into the recesses of my brain to remember exactly who he was, but I knew that I knew him as soon as I saw him and heard his voice. He's working on getting a music career together, gave me a copy of his demo CD, and wants to talk about doing a webpage. Should be interesting, to say the least.

I'm still amazed that he recognized me (I've aged a bit in the face, and I have facial hair now), and that he remembered my full name. Weird to think that I had enough impact on him that my name would stick around in his memory for almost 10 years. Or maybe he's just good with names. ^_^
